A 250 acre large water body in south Chennai. Fresh water, birds, fish, frogs, snakes and more....
All until a few years ago....
Today......
Its a dumping ground where we can dump anything from Poultry waste, construction debris, polythene...
Anything from baby diaper to a ganesha can be dumped here with nobody stopping us.
Of course there needs to be that encroachment,
how else do you classify it as a lake...
This large fresh water body that was once home to so many life forms,
is today home to large piles of non-degradable polythene trash.
Its a shame how we the so called "Educated" are converting Elixir into poison.
From a Cricket Match in the middle of the lake to a fun bike ride,
all possible only at Madambakkam Lake :(
Lake view apartments BUT no lakes to view!
Construction of buildings over lakes decreasing the soil fertility as well as prevents
the groundwater recharge.
Despite all this... There is still Hope!
Up Above the world so high, only one at a time flies in the sky !
Garbage and toxic levels have increased in the lake. Bird cant breed or feed here anymore.
We at E.F.I have taken the key initiative to clean the Madambakkam Lake.
This lake in particular has been cleaned for about 26 times but dumping continues. Beautiful INDIA, why be a dirty INDIAN!
Volunteer for India and her environment every weekend to clean water bodies and restore them.
Change is inevitable,let's be the change we want to see.
